PRESS RELEASE: DOODLEARTH, DRAW THE WORLD WITH MTV

Doodlearth workshop. ‘Magdalena Festival’ May 15th – 17th

Following last years Successful launch of Doodlearth at Designers block and Cut n’ ‘paste tournament in London, this year, as guests of MTV, Doodlearth is continuing its quest to bring image makers from around the global together in special 3 day event in Maribor, Slovenia’s - Magdalena Festival /the 10th international festival of Creative communication. Visit www.magdalena.org for details of the festival.

Squint Opera, Serge Seidlitz & Debut Art have collaborated to create a cityscape animation. We will be screening the film and working from the site to continue to develop this exciting new online initiative. Doodlearth is a live illustration/art event, with the idea of bringing together people from around the world who have a passion for doodling, with the ultimate aim of creating an online community to replicate the live events, using cutting edge technology to create a virtual environment which invites people to upload images (hand drawn, digital, collage….) of their own environment. We are interested in the happy mistakes and the unplanned. We are interested in people’s interpretations of their environment, wherever they may be in the world. We want the different illustrative styles to appear next to each other, to reflect the multitude of architectural styles in the cities around the world. The work will grow and take on a life of its own as the piece travels from destination to destination, image-makers from the cities we visit will be adding to the work, which will be displayed in galleries, festivals, exhibitions and online at www.doodlearth.com

The 40 minute film was created by digital artist Federico Urdanteta (www. boraxx.org/) and contains artwork from British contributors including:

Andy Baker, Amo, Celyn, Chris Bianchi, Christian Guitian, Jon Burgerman, Harry Malt, ilovedust, James Merry, James Taylor, Oliver Hydes, Pomme Chan, Sara Howell, Serge Seidlitz, Steph Von Reiswitz, Tado, Tim Ellis, Walter Newton (lie-insandtigers) and Will Alsop.

Festival season is on us!

Falling over, getting stamped on, pissing on tents, bleeding gums, drawing on people, snogging strangers and throwing up on your mate sleeping next to you - that's fun times! Look for these guys this summer and you can WIN a can of warm beer from me, alternatively see them in this weeks Guardian Guide's Festival special.
