Cockpit studio

The place where dreams come true (and i do a bit of work sometimes)

Tuesday, 18 March 2008

This is the second image I worked on recently for Shell, it's very different to the usual stuff, but it was a fun project to work on all the same, I had a couple of days in the the studio with the photographer, Toby Summerskill, and a bunch of 'hand models' who all got bored with my endless 'handjob' cracks (snigger!) - we ended up shooting alot of different versions with models of all ethnic origins for various regions around the world.

Channel four book - Health

Channel Four games

There are six games altogether, spread through the chapter, here are three of them

Channel four at 25 book launch

Last night was the launch party for the Channel four book i've contributed too. I worked with Cordelia Jenkins on a series of six snakes and ladders boards each based around the story of female emancipation. The book looks fantastic and has contributions from the likes of Martin Parr, Lord Snowdon, Jody Barton, Andy Goldsworthy and a whole host of other amazing people! I had an interesting conversation with a priest who has contributed a piece on how Father Ted is too close to reality to make it interesting for him, he told me an anecdote about how he was locked naked outside his LA parish while the Rodney King riots were in progress!

L.A Times winner at 'Society for News Design's' annual international competition

Two of my illustrations have won awards in an American News design competition. The illustrations were commissioned by Derek Simmons at the L.A Times and were both front cover features. The cell phone Business page won in design and the college football preview won in illustration. You can search for the winners by following this link:

pitch work for drinks brand

I did some pitch work a while back for a well known sugary orangey (fantastic) drinks brand that Mother does the advertising for (can you guess who it yet ?), I didnt get the job, but i quite like this simple illustration.

Shell work in progress

These are some versions of the campaign using their corporate colours, they're not as 'fresh' as the final images.

Christies Vintage poster auction

I went to Christies last night to see the vintage posters they are auctioning, there are some amazing old classics which i'd love to own, this image is inspired by -"ripped off from"- my favourite, a Cabaret poster with Liza Minelli screaming in the middle of a swastika!
