Doodlearth at Platform 21 = Checking Reality, Amsterdam

An informal evening with the Dutch premier (!!) of Doodlearth, an interactive drawing workshop in which you create your own architectural views of the future. Graphic artist Serge Seidlitz presents and invites you to join!
Geek graffiti and Ikea hacks: Scott Burnham, curator of a.o. Droog Design's Urban Play later this year, lectures how influences from the virtual world manifest themselves on the street. It might cause a revolution in the way we treat the city.
WiiJ Timski, DJ without desks, has made the Wii controller of his game console into a perfect DJing tool. He demonstrates this at the club. Furthermore Jeremy Wood presents his work with GPS technology and shows the results of two GPS Drawing workshops that will be held on the 5th and 6th of June in the Beatrixpark.

Last train to Memphis

After reading 'Last train to Memphis' and 'Careless Love', i've developed an unquenchable thirst for all things Elvis. My girlfriend put up with it for the first few months, but is now finding it hard to compete! I've started to sketch an alternative book cover, but haven't had time to finish it yet... (Note to self - must refrain from talking about Elvis to anyone who will listen)

Doodlearth Slovenia

This is the result of last fridays doodlearth drawing from Magdalena festival, we ended up with three big drawings like this, it was a pretty fun event, with three days of lectures, seminars and workshops from people like Jonathan Barnbrook - who made me feel like a bit of a corporate whore...gulp! Don Parker, who i used to work with back in the day, Jamie 'son of Eurovision' Jay Johnson, and Marta Di Francesca from Mtv. Thanks to everyone who organized the festival especially Katja, Simon and Srdan.

DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK

An outrageous breach of copyright has rocked the illustration community recently, Darren Di Lieto's 'Little Chimp society' has been ripped off and turned into a coffee table book, 'Colorful Illustrations 93°C', by a Chinese publishing company, Index books (by Zhao Jun). Interviews and images were taken directly from the book without anyone's permission or knowledge.

An interesting article on the subject appears here :

PRESS RELEASE: DOODLEARTH, DRAW THE WORLD WITH MTV

Doodlearth workshop. ‘Magdalena Festival’ May 15th – 17th

Following last years Successful launch of Doodlearth at Designers block and Cut n’ ‘paste tournament in London, this year, as guests of MTV, Doodlearth is continuing its quest to bring image makers from around the global together in special 3 day event in Maribor, Slovenia’s - Magdalena Festival /the 10th international festival of Creative communication. Visit www.magdalena.org for details of the festival.

Squint Opera, Serge Seidlitz & Debut Art have collaborated to create a cityscape animation. We will be screening the film and working from the site to continue to develop this exciting new online initiative. Doodlearth is a live illustration/art event, with the idea of bringing together people from around the world who have a passion for doodling, with the ultimate aim of creating an online community to replicate the live events, using cutting edge technology to create a virtual environment which invites people to upload images (hand drawn, digital, collage….) of their own environment. We are interested in the happy mistakes and the unplanned. We are interested in people’s interpretations of their environment, wherever they may be in the world. We want the different illustrative styles to appear next to each other, to reflect the multitude of architectural styles in the cities around the world. The work will grow and take on a life of its own as the piece travels from destination to destination, image-makers from the cities we visit will be adding to the work, which will be displayed in galleries, festivals, exhibitions and online at www.doodlearth.com

The 40 minute film was created by digital artist Federico Urdanteta (www. boraxx.org/) and contains artwork from British contributors including:

Andy Baker, Amo, Celyn, Chris Bianchi, Christian Guitian, Jon Burgerman, Harry Malt, ilovedust, James Merry, James Taylor, Oliver Hydes, Pomme Chan, Sara Howell, Serge Seidlitz, Steph Von Reiswitz, Tado, Tim Ellis, Walter Newton (lie-insandtigers) and Will Alsop.
